Hi guys!
Mario here with an update on the second DLC pack for Black Ops 2!
The second DLC in Black Ops 2 will be called Uprising, and includes 4 new Multiplayer and a new Zombies map. The four new Multiplayer maps are Magma, Encore, Studio and Vertigo) and the new Zombies map will be called Mob of the Dead.
I'll start by talking about the multiplayer maps:
Magma
The description on the Black Ops 2 site says:
"Lava carving through a modern Japanese village leaves rivers of fiery damage in its wake, providing players with dangerous terrain, compromised cover, and frenetic firefights for survival."
The description given by David Vonderhaar is:
"Magma is about a map that's a volcano that's erupted, and these lava flows are cutting right through the centre of this town. This map features both short and long range engagements. Players will be a little more successful racking up the kills if they carry multiple weapon types so they can adjust quickly to different engagements. Magma is unique because it's the first Multiplayer map that introduces lava as an environmental hazard, so as you navigate the pathways, you'll have to be careful or you're gonna get burned."
This map sounds like it has similar gameplay effects to what Hydro did in the Revolution DLC, with random lava that can kill you instead of the random floods. It looks awesome, just like all of the Black Ops 2 DLC maps so far, so let's move on to the second map!
Encore
The description on the Black Ops 2 site says:
"Set on the grounds following a bustling London music festival, the central stage provides players with a key vantage point overlooking the close-quarters battle of the surrounding amphitheater and main tents."
The description given by David Vonderhaar is:
"Encore is actually an outdoor concert hall, but participating in a Multiplayer map. The map design features a central stage that acts as a powerful, elevated position. Players can assault that stage directly or they can flank around through the stands. It really is best to try to be the rock star in Encore, because if you're holding down the center stage, you're gonna dominate the map."
This sounds like the Grind of Uprising. A futuristic rock concert stage set in London sounds pretty good, although it looks like a very small map that may be very close-quarters and great for One in the Chamber and Free-for-All.
Vertigo
The description on the Black Ops 2 site says:
"High above the clouds atop a mega skyscraper in India, players must battle across a VTOL landing pad and through the transportation terminal, bringing new dimensions of verticality to every battle."
The description given by David Vonderhaar is:
"Vertigo is a skyscraper, and it's owned by the Asus Corporation (sorry if I got that wrong). You may remember the Asus Corporation as the bad guys who built all the drones inside of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. And the one thing that's unique about Vertigo is that the players can jump from one path to the other by smashing through the nearby windows. Players that are used to hugging the edge of the map, you're going to have to be very careful. One wrong step, you're gonna fall to your death, mistakes will be made."
Vertigo sounds like a new type of Hijacked, maybe not as good, but similar. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out the new verticality, as it sounds very dynamic and a great way to move around the map.
Studio
This is probably the most exciting map in the Uprising DLC. The description on the Black Ops 2 site says:
"Set on a Hollywood studio backlot, players will take cover in a wide-array of classic movie sets in this reimagined adaptation on the fan-favorite Multiplayer map Firing Range."
The description given by David Vonderhaar is:
"Every day, fans will ask us 'Hey, can you bring back this map, that we had before that we really liked'? Firing Range. And this package includes a very special treat for fans in the form of Studio. Studio takes place on a Hollywood backlot, where players can fight through movie sets ranging from alien invasions to pirate lairs, jurassic jungles and western saloons. The most strategical places in the map are the Castle Tower and the Tavern because they control the center of the map.
This sounds like the most exciting map in the Uprising DLC. First off, it's a remodel of the Black Ops 1 map Firing Range, which is awesome! Second, it takes place in a movie set, which is awesome as we might be able to take control of the some of the props, or use them for cover. It also appears to be a large map, which is pretty good considering the only really large maps are Aftermath and Downhill. The only problem will be the trolls who use the props to create there own movies, but that shouldn't be a problem: I mean, who doesn't love watching trolling on YouTube?
Mob of the Dead
The new Zombies map, Mob of the Dead, is described to be Treyarch's most terrifying Zombies experience to date. There isn't a website description, but there is a description from Jason Blundell, an Executive Producer of Black Ops 2, who said:
"We wanted to take the story somewhere new. And change the vibe, we're embracing this idea of...horror thriller. Then we went to Alcatraz.
Alcatraz had so many different incarnations. We could start playing with the history there, seeing into the 1920's into the 1930's. You've got the probation area coming in there. You see, that then breeds certain characters that we only see in that time period, and that's where we're getting guys like Ray Liotta, Joe Pantoliano, Chazz Palminteri and Michael Madsen."
There is also a new feature (thanks to CharlieINTEL's site) called 'Purgatory, which sends players to the afterlife if they become an unfortunate victim.
This all sounds pretty awesome! I'll update everyone if there's any new info!
